It all started at the end of December last year when I began thinking that something was amiss, and that perhaps I needed to try something really new. My cousin, Amy, participarted on a NOLS trip some time ago and I've known about the program since then. On a bit of a whim I requested a brochure that I ended up carrying with me for the next five months before I finalized my plans to take this leap of faith.
People who know me well know that I process aloud. I often talk about new ideas as if they are already a reality. Some assume that I've made a firm resolution or have decided to execute this idea, but in my mind I'm still thinking about it--just thinking aloud.
This 'thinking aloud' turned into reality and on September 13th I begin a semester's journey in Lander, Wyoming with my classmates. Admittedly, this decision still causes me to shake my head at myself...but with a grin on my face.
